"There's a big difference between playing and playing well.
Just because you can play a million notes doesn't mean you're playing well." - Steve Vai
Does Playing Guitar Feel Like Too Much WORK?
Is practice a grind when it should be fun? Is progress moving in slow motion? Do you practice, but whatever level you reach, you feel it's a grind to get ahead? Do you keep getting STUCK? Hitting walls, even when you practice, as the speed, the ease, keep slipping way? Even if you're a Pro?
Do you want to play faster? Be more accurate? Make every bar chord effortless and clean? Not get tired hands? Have a process for chord-changing that guarantees ease and clean rhythm? Fingerpick like a pro with clean sound and blazing speed?

You used to lie in bed as a kid, eyes closed, dreaming of your fingers blazing effortlessly across the fretboard — playing exactly what you felt, with blinding speed and total freedom.
Reality turned out way different. No matter how much you practice, your hands just don't do what you want. Not as clean, not as effortless, not as fast. So what IS up?
That’s not a talent problem. Yea, one a million guitar players may hit the top on intuition alone, but that leaves a lot of talented people like you wanting to smash your axe from frustration.
"Technique is Freedom." -Yngwie Malmsteen
It's Not Your Fault
You've Only Been Taught WHAT To Play, not HOW To Play!
NOT the Same Thing At All...

Playing Guitar is Not Just Talent or Memorizing Scale...
IT'S ABOUT PLAYING MECHANICS AND ERGONOMICS!

Tennis Players, Golfers, Pro QBs, & Classical Guitarists Learn Playing Mechanics
Why Not the Rest of Us?

You Learned Music Theory - Now Learn "TECHNIQUE THEORY!"

Built on robotics research, sports mechanics, and classical guitar teaching, it synthesizes how ALL humans move their arms, hands, and fingers most naturally and effortlessly, whether we're swinging a golf club or playing guitar.
These are the guitar AXioms™—facts about human anatomy: how we move with max efficiency applied to guitar technique. If you're human, these apply to your guitar playing. Your shoulder is joint is a ball-and-socket surrounded by a rotator cuff. Which is why it favors curved motions. Period! Not open to debate.
Your fingers do not prefer being slammed into ebony without control. Period. Playing with excessive tension and squeezing the neck to death is inefficient, produces a bad tone, and hurts.
Technique Theory reverse-engineers why virtuosos play the way they do. Not more "secrets to lead guitar" but a step-by-step SYSTEM of playing AXioms™: The actual Playing Mechanics of blazing guitar technique.
And it's all baked into our Progressive Technique System Black Strap guitar course.
"You can practice 8 hours a day, but if you're not doing it correctly, you're just reinforcing bad habits." - John Petrucci

1. KILLER TECHNIQUE FROM CLASSICAL PLAYING

2. PLAYING MECHANICS FROM SPORTS

"I'm always trying to make improvements to my mechanics. It's really a never-ending process." - Tom Brady

3. ERGONOMICS FROM ROBOTICS

Today's robotics don't just work assembly lines. They do surgery on human beings. And one erratic movement, a few millimeters off, and it can be life or death. Billions of dollars have gone into robotics movement research. And what you can learn from this applies to every movement on the guitar fretboard. We researched the research so you don't have to.
All Backed by Science
25 YEARS COURSE RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT!

Complex Science for Guitar, Cleary Explained
"Curvilinear pathways" (Move In Curves): This is how your shoulder joint rotates—it doesn't slide in straight lines. Efficient movement follows arcs, whether you're throwing a baseball or on the fretboard.
"Proximal initiation" (Keep Fingers Close): Sounds tough but: A tennis serve generates power from the legs and core, not the wrist. Guitar technique works the same way—force originates from your shoulder and arm.
"Micro-relaxation" (Relax Between Notes): A boxer doesn't hold constant tension—they tense on impact, relax between punches. Your hand works the same way: engage for the note, relax between notes. And yes, you can! Classical guitarists do, one reason they can blaze the most complex material.
"Kinetic chain integration"(Use Your Shoulder and Arm): Another mouthful, but a pitcher uses legs, hips, torso, shoulder, and arm in sequence. Guitar technique requires the same, especially learning how to make best use of the left arm—not isolated finger movement

The Technique Monster Story
Hey, I'm Kevin from Technique Monster. Maybe you've heard unlikely "I found a guru and had to share" stories, so I get it—but mine happens to be true.
I was searching for guitar lessons and called "The Doc," who told me he was a classically trained guitarist. That gave me pause until I learned he'd help me focus on how to play well and point me toward a few books and videos so I could learn the what to play.
To this day, when I play in a guitar store or wherever, people say, "Wow, good technique"—even though I'm a very part-time player.
I learned from the Doc the AXioms™ of how to play. Others don't. They struggle, they get stuck and they often bail because nobody teaches them a HOW TO PLAY.
So, despite his aversion to being a "look at me" guru type, the Doc agreed—after I bugged him relentlessly—to let me help share this.
And Now we are, after 25 years of research, testing, development, and course creation! And we're out to change the guitar-playin' world forever.

Have Questions? We Have Answers!
Q: Do I need any prior guitar experience?
Yes. This is NOT a beginner's course - unless using in conjunction with a traditional "what to play" program.
Q: What if I've been playing for years with bad habits?
That's exactly who this is for. We address the mechanical root causes of bad habits—tension, inefficient movement, inaccuracy, low speed limits, putting in more physical work than you should,. You'll understand WHY your old approach didn't work and HOW to fix it systematically.
Q: I play metal. Will this work for me?
This is for All Styles! We do not teach what to play, and playing mechanics are universal. Whether you play jazz, metal, blues, or country, whatever, your body works the same way. Knowing AXioms™ - HOW your arms, hands, and fingers work effortlessly and efficiently, so you do not only "make it look easy." you actually make it easy, applies to every style.
Q: Is this only for electric guitar? Acoustic? Classical?
All guitars. The mechanics of efficient movement don't change based on instrument type.
HOW IT WORKS
Q: How long does the course take?
It's a 16-week systematic progression through the Black Strap strap system. But work at your own pace—some students move faster, some take longer. Lifetime access means you can not only learn as you want, but keep on reviewing, because guitar perfection is a lifetime pursuit.
Q: How much time do I need to practice daily?
The 10-Minute Daily Drills are designed to fit any schedule. Consistency matters more than duration. Short, focused practice beats long, unfocused sessions.
Q: Can I do this alongside other guitar lessons?
Absolutely. This teaches HOW to move. Pair it with any "what to play" lessons—songs, scales, theory. The How to Play foundation makes everything else work better.
Q: Do I get lifetime access?
Yes. One payment, lifetime lessons, for all course materials, including updates and new stuff.
WHAT YOU GET
Q: What's included in the course?
Too much to list here! Dozens of pro-level videos, a 200-page full-color graphic novel textbook, Lesson Guides, 10-Minute Daily Drills, plus the APP and a lot more... use all or pick and choose.
Q: Is this all video, or are there written materials?
Did you read the line above this : ) Both. Video demonstrations show you HOW to move. The graphic novel textbook provides complete written instruction in engaging story format. Multiple learning formats so you absorb the material however works best for you.
Q: What's the "graphic novel textbook"?
A 200-page, full-color story-based instructional book. You learn by watching "The Kid" learn from Dr. Shredenstein. Every lesson unfolds through dialogue and visual demonstration. Ages 14+, sophisticated instruction in an engaging format.
Q: What are the 10-Minute Daily Drills?
Focused practice exercises designed to build mastery without overwhelming you. Quick, progressive, effective. Fits any schedule.
THE SCIENCE BEHIND IT
Q: Do I need to understand the science to benefit from this?
No. The science is there if you want to dive deep, but you don't need a technical background. Just follow the demonstrations and drills—it works like crazy whether you understand the physics or not.
Q: What's Technique Theory?
The systematic study of HOW to move efficiently—like music theory, but for movement instead of notes. It's the foundation traditional instruction skips.
Q: Yea, But I Learned Techniques Like Speed-Picking and Trills.
Sounds kind of the same but not the same. TECHNIQUES are speed-picking, etc. TECHNIQUE is a player's entire physical skill level, how effortlessly, fast, efficiently they do everything that is playing the guitar.
Q: Is this backed by real research?
Yes. Based on peer-reviewed robotics research (Mombaur & Bhounsule 2018, Sentis & Khatib 2019, Albu-Schäffer et al. 2020), sports mechanics, and classical guitar instruction Published research papers available through the Guitar Biomechanics & Robotics Physics Society.
WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE
Q: What results can I expect?
Cleaner tone with less effort. Reduced hand fatigue and tension. Faster progress on difficult passages. Understanding WHY things work instead of guessing. Sustainable technique that prevents injury.
Q: Will this make me play faster?
Efficiency enables speed. When you eliminate wasted movement and tension, your recovery time between notes shortens naturally. Speed is a byproduct of proper playing mechanics, not the goal itself.
Q: Will this fix my [specific problem]?
Most technical problems—tension, fatigue, inconsistent tone, speed barriers, hand cramping—stem from "mechanical inefficiency." If the root cause is mechanical, this addresses it systematically.
Q: How is this different from other guitar courses?
Most courses teach WHAT to play (songs, scales, licks). We teach HOW to play. And though few seem to realize this yet, NOT the same thing. This is the technique foundation other courses skip entirely.
THE DETAILS
Q: Can I access this on mobile?
Yes, this ain't 1990. Digital course materials work on desktop, tablet, and mobile.
Q: Do I need special equipment?
Just your guitar. No special gear required.
WHAT'S NEXT
Q: What happens after I complete Black Strap?
Red Strap (Advanced Hand Control + Advanced Arm Control) for players who want elite-level mastery. Certified Instructor program if you want to teach. Technique Theory Master for deep theoretical study.
Q: Can I become a Certified Instructor?
Yes. After completing Black Strap, you can pursue Certified Instructor training to teach Technique Monster to others.
Q: What's the difference between Black Strap, Red Strap, Certified Instructor, and Technique Theory Master?
Black Strap = foundational mastery (how to play efficiently). Red Strap = advanced left arm and hand movement training (advanced path). Certified Instructor = teaching credential (teacher path). Technique Theory Master = academic/theoretical mastery (scholar path).
STRAIGHT ANSWERS TO TOUGH QUESTIONS
Q: This sounds too good to be true. What's the catch?
No catch. Just systematic instruction based on science instead of tradition. The "catch" is you have to actually do the work—follow the system, practice the drills, apply the principles. Hard work is not what is needed, but consistent effort, and the with that the path is clear.
Q: Why hasn't anyone taught this before?
Traditional guitar instruction evolved from oral tradition and subjective feel-based instruction, and unlike classical teaching, or even sports, it stayed a "local guy thinks this" approach. The playing mechanics research that validates efficient movement patterns is relatively recent (last 20 years in robotics). We're applying scientific findings to an art form that's been taught the same way for centuries.
Q: I've tried other "revolutionary" guitar methods. Why is this different?
Most "revolutionary" methods teach new ways to play the same stuff—alternate picking systems, new scale patterns, shortcut tricks. The Progressive Technique System has NOTHING in common with these/ We teach the foundation that makes ALL methods work better. This isn't a technique—it's the science of HOW techniques work.
